What’s this? Foreshadowing? Backshadowing? Do these strange aliens have experience dealing with Saturnian women? Have they battled Sally before? What is their masterplan? Where is the moon-president? All these questions, and more… will be answered eventually! Or they may not be answered and then they’ll linger in the background, gnawing at you from the inside… the only way to know is to stay tuned for the next episodes of Saturn Sally!
I’m starting to get the impression that Sally isn’t a happy person on the inside. Her shopping spree interupted, she’s a bit too maniacal for her own good. She’s a woman on a mission, to hunt down those who would dare disrupt her moment of peace in her local shopping mall.
She’s not the sharpest crayon in the box… so she’s making enough waves to alert those little green men she so desperately wants to beat up.
Part 1 of… of… more parts. I haven’t decided yet how many strips this one is going to be. It’s going to be just long enough, but not too long. At least, that’s what I hope.
So here’s a little background. Just because she has a claw for a hand doesn’t mean she can’t be a good salesperson. Yeah I could hear you thinking it. This is the year 2050 and people who have metal claws instead of hands aren’t discriminated against. They have dreams too you know!
So I gave Sally a gizmo, and why wouldn’t I give her one? She needs a way to communicate with people. If there’s a crisis on the Moon, she needs to be informed ASAP. So it’s a little holographic image that pops up, like a mentor, or maybe it’s just another annoying pop-up… like that damn paperclip in Word. Poor Sally, just when she found the perfect outfit… she’s called away on duty… all the way to the moon.
Robot Life, expect this webcomic to pop up once a week or so. The thing about Robot Life is that it’s slightly autobiographical. Certain aspects are eerily similar to my own life, while other venture off into the realm of pure fiction. I’m nt going to tell where fiction bleeds into reality, just remember, each of the Robot Life strips has a little kernel of truth hidden inside…
Expect this comic to be the more subdued one. If Sally is the main feature, Robot Life is going to be… not the main feature… Sally gets to blow up robots and aliens and whatnots, in Robot Life things aren’t going to go BOOM anytime soon.
It all ends with a laserbeam through the head
by admin on August 3, 2009 at 8:30 amThe story of my life. You’re just walking around, enjoying the sun, and then all of a sudden someone just rams a laser through your noggin’. Circuits fried, brain scrambled, leaving behind a big ol’ mess. That’s how the first little story of Sally Saturn ends. I could have dragged it along for a few more strips if I wanted to, but I decided to keep this first little experiment short and simple.
She will of course be back for a whole new adventure. I’m not through with the girl yet. Wondering where I might end up sending her to next. I have been experimenting a little with the whole set up. I’m used to drawing bigger images, stand alone images. So this is mostly me flexing my creative muscles and trying something new. I’m going for simple and clean, with the story being easy to read and easy to follow. Letting the images tell the story, not captions and speech balloons. I think I succeeded… though I realize I should be using more context in the artwork.
So here’s to improvement!
Yours truly
Roel.
I just woke up, and it’s way too early for me to be running around doing stuff. I’m still dead tired, I don’t know what it is exactly, but I think I’m getting old. My back is killing me, like I’ve been sleeping on a slab of concrete in some damp little alleyway.
I want to go back to bed, but not my own bed, a real bed, a decent bed, a bed that you can drown in.
So basically, she’s going to be the main character, watch her as she battles the forces of evil and fights for what is right. She hails from the deepest regions of space… well Saturn at least, and she’s come to the future world of 2050 to save us from impending doom!
